TraNa Relief – Recognition from the State of New York

Recently, in the majestic building of the New York State Capitol, at the Assembly and Senate in Albany, a ceremonial event was held to honor the charitable organization TraNa Relief Association, founded in 2022 in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The volunteer organization has become an important source of support for thousands of Ukrainian refugees who found themselves far from home.

A delegation of about 50 people — volunteers, trip organizers, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, as well as refugees — was invited to the Assembly Hall. Assemblyman Mikhail Novakhov delivered a heartfelt speech about the noble mission of TraNa Relief Association, emphasizing its contribution to supporting those in need. His words were met with loud applause. It is no surprise that over the years of its active work, TraNa Relief Association has received numerous letters of gratitude and honorary diplomas.

On this day, at the Assembly, honorary diplomas were awarded to well-known American lawyer Tanya Segal, as well as to the co-founder of the organization, CPA Nadya Levit, along with other caring, compassionate, and selfless people who daily extend a helping hand to those experiencing the pain of loss, homesickness, and difficulties adapting to a new country.

The delegation also visited the office of Assembly Member Alec Brook-Krasny, after which New York State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton warmly introduced TraNa Relief Association to her colleagues at the Senate session, where the entire hall rose in a round of prolonged applause.

In three years of active and noble work, the organization has conducted:
• 45 training Zoom seminars, each lasting 3 hours, with a total of 2,612 participants;
• 142 in-person events in New York and New Jersey, attended by 4,071 participants;
• dozens of vibrant celebrations, fairs, and heartfelt cultural gatherings that help people adapt and find new friends.

In an interview, the organization’s founder Natalia Travilina admitted: For us, it was an incredibly moving moment — to receive recognition in the very heart of the state. This is proof that our work is important not only for the families we help, but also for American society as a whole.

Special mention should be made of Natalia Travilina — an energetic, charismatic woman leader whose unquenchable vitality inspires everyone around her. Her energy, outstanding organizational talent, and genuine compassion make her a true beacon of hope for refugee women, especially mothers with children experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression. Natalia creates a warm atmosphere at meetings, organizes theme nights and celebrations where songs and music are heard, children joyfully create with their own hands, and adults find comfort, hope, and support.

An honorary certificate was awarded to the remarkable lawyer Tanya Segal, who provides legal consultations on housing, legalization, and employment issues. She can often be found at the TraNa Relief information desk during job fairs — at the Brighton library, at Shorefront, at the Cyclones stadium, and other venues. Tanya warmly answers people’s urgent questions about tenants’ rights, immigration documents, and other vital matters. She also conducts free Zoom sessions.

Among those honored was CPA Nadya Levit, who held free seminars and helped refugees file tax returns during their particularly difficult first year in the U.S.

The success of TraNa Relief Association would not have been possible without the selfless work of kindhearted volunteers, many of whom themselves once went through the difficult path of immigration. Their compassion, selflessness, and sincere desire to help make the organization a living example of how solidarity, love for people, and faith in kindness can change destinies.

TraNa Relief Association extends special thanks to immigration attorney Elena Denevich (Five Star Legal Help), personal injury lawyer Lora Rosenberg, the Manhattan School of Computer Technology — an online school of English, medical, and accounting programs — as well as to all the generous people who have contributed and continue to contribute donations in support of the organization’s good causes!

TraNa Relief gratefully accepts donations for its assistance projects, as this is its only source of funding.
